Internet Solutions. Period.
Don't Be Fooled by the Do-It-Yourself Approach
You went into business because you're good at what you do. That, and you felt that you could offer a good, quality product/service to the world. And whatever your specialty, you know that when the time comes for it, people will need your goods/services. Sure, your potential client may have dabbled in your specialty; maybe they know something about your line of work. But in the end, they come to you because you're the expert, because YOU have the knowledge to get the job done correctly.
This is exactly how it should be.
From experience, we know that it's not an easy thing to do to give the keys to someone else to let them drive. Not when you're the one paying for it, and certainly not when it directly affects your business. But the do-it-yourself approach isn't always the best solution.
Since its inception, the web has been a wonderful communication tool. It has offered reasonably priced advertising for your business and the unique ability to reach the most number of people across the state, country and world. And with the development of the web came software development companies that aggressively stated (and continue to state) that 'ANYONE can create a website.'
But if people come to you for your goods and services because you offer a great product, the same should hold true for web design services.
Before you consider the do-it-yourself approach to web design, you should consider a few things...
1.) How experienced are you? In no particular order, your level of expertise will be evident in your attention to detail, design nuances, typography skills and the ability to offer the information your audience is looking for in a simple, neat presentation. Any inconsistencies in your site, any navigation flaws, perhaps even slow load times...all will give your audience their first indication of your company's professionalism.
2.) Do you have the software? While there is most definitely free software out there, it's important to remember that the programs used by professional design companies can produce high-end graphics. A web presence isn't just a web presence anymore. Now we need to entertain our audience. We need to give them eye candy. Can your software do this? Having the right software also means the ability to create a design and information hierarchy and the ability to access your web hosting. It's also important to note the limitations of software provided by these software developers. We have seen far too many clients fall into the trap of designing from an unoriginal template, only to find they can't do the things they want to do. You should have FULL control over your website design.
3.) Are you ready to make the commitment? Designing and maintaining a website means you'll have to take less time to focus on your business and devote it to the development of your web content. And as for those design nuances we mentioned before...do you think that you'll be able to keep the consistency across your site as you add new content?
As most people understand, design is a specialty, just like everything else in this world. You hire the experts because you want the job done correctly.
And whether or not you choose Payson LLC to do your web design and web hosting, we still encourage you to leave the design and technology to the professionals...people who have dedicated their careers to web design, development and hosting. This way you can continue doing what you do best.
