Internet Solutions. Period.
What can social media do for you?
LinkedIn, Facebook, MySpace, Delicious, Plaxo, StumbleUpon, Twitter...
By now it's likely that you've heard of at least one of these. And although you might feel pretty good about yourself that you knew one of these...you should also know that these barely scratch the surface of what's out there.
Understand that social media isn't just something that a sixteen year old does in his or her spare time. Social media has become quite the contrary, actually, and allows users to advertise their services for free. With a simple sign up, you can share content with the world at the speed of your business!
Just an FYI, even some members of congress have started blogging!
Time and time again we've heard the question asked: "Well, how can social media help my business?"
The response is that social media gives you another avenue of promotion, networking and branding, acting as a catalyst (of sorts) for collaboration. Social media is just another avenue for you to build your brand and to build inbound links to your website.
And what about those inbound links? Well, hey, those inbound links will help your rank within the search engines. In the competitive world of Search Engine Optimization, who couldn't use a few extra inbound links? If, by using social media, you can get more of your target audience to your website, then you've accomplished one of the main goals of social media.
Here's the catch. You have to be patient. Very patient. If you start contributing to social media, make sure you're in it for the long haul. The results are great, as long as you understand that they will not be immediate.
Keep in mind that both large and small businesses can benefit from social media. Not just one or the other. Everyone can benefit...and all it takes is some consistent, contentious effort.
